As reported by Voice of America’s Jeff Seldin, General Breedlove has stated that there is continued conflict within the region and NATO must watch with a wary eye.

General Breedlove points out that Russia has seven or more battalions stationed along the Ukrainian border as well as many small groups of special operations forces.

The General said that regular Russian forces are actively facilitating the movement of personnel, equipment and finances across the border into Ukraine, and it is very likely that Russian weaponry were used in the downing of the Ukrainian military helicopter earlier this month.

He went on to say that Russian irregular forces are very active inside Eastern Ukraine and that Russia’s recent moves along the Ukrainian border gives a baseline for future NATO/US need for force in Europe.
