A Panama-bound Sunwing flight was forced to divert back to Toronto early Friday morning following reports that a passenger made threats of an unknown nature towards the airline.

Flight 772 took off from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport at 7 a.m. for Panama city with 181 passengers aboard along with two infants and a crew of six.

45 minutes into the flight, a threat was directed towards the airline by an agitated passenger and was diverted back to it’s departing destination in Toronto.  Two US F-16 fighter jets were dispatched from Toledo, Ohio, to escort the jetliner back to Toronto.

Upon arrival at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, heavily armed police stormed the aircraft screaming, “Heads down, hands up!” as seen in the video shot by a passenger aboard the plane.

One passenger was arrested by police and is currently in custody.
