Russian Defense Minister informs peacekeepers to “maintain combat readiness”

Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, has stated that Russian peacekeeping forces should maintain combat readiness.
The comments were made by Shoigu on a visit to a military base in Samara, Russia and published by ITAR-TASS news agency on Wednesday.
Shoigu said that Russian peacekeeping forces must be in a state of constant readiness to fulfil their tasks.
“The world has changed, changed dramatically. As you know from previous cases, including this brigade, peacekeeping units may be called upon unexpectedly,” he said.
“This is precisely why divisions and brigades of the peacekeeping forces must maintain constant combat readiness,” explained the minister.
Shoigu went on further to say that the peacekeeping roles should be filled by contractors, and not by recruits.
