Canada to deploy military supplies and equipment to Ukraine
by The Daily Lede
Canada is set to supply the Ukrainian military with supplies and equipment in order to aid troops on the ground in the troubled region.
Canada will deploy a Hercules transport C-130 loaded with military equipment to Ukraine in the coming days which will be the first in a series of military aid flights to the region.
News of the deployment comes just hours after the Canadian government announced further sanctions to Russian individuals and entities which include the CEO of Russia’s second largest Bank and members of Russia’s security council.
Canada’s National Defense Minister, Rob Nicholson, said the Canadian government is targeting people who are raising funds to “support the illegal activity that’s taking place” and are involved in the political process related to the crisis in Ukraine.
Thursday, Mr. Nicholson travels to Niagara Falls where he will make an important announcement related to Ukraine.
