NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, announced during a meeting with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov that the alliance has broken cooperation with Russia.

“The Alliance stops cooperation with the Russian Federation, seeks to strengthen the collective defense for the protection of all NATO members, and has decided to increase the level of support and cooperation with Ukraine,” said Rasmussen.

Rasmussen also said that the NATO-Ukraine summit, to be held in September, “will forge new concrete steps in establishing productive cooperation between the two sides.”

According to Rasmussen, Ukraine needs comprehensive reform, particularly in the military sphere, and says the Verkhovna Rada should play an important role.
