BREAKING: Ukraine’s anti-terrorist operation complete, country must now strengthen defenses against #Russia

by The Daily Lede

Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Valeriy Geletey, has declared the anti-terrorist operation in southeast Ukraine over and told the press that Ukraine must now work to strengthen it’s defenses against an invading Russia.

“A great war has arrived at our doorstep — the likes of which Europe has not seen since World War II,” said Geletey.

Overnight, Russian troops overtook the airport in Lugansk forcing Kiev to retreat and it was reported that Ukrainian soldiers were battling tanks.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Geletey has said that Russia, through unofficial channels, has threatened Kiev with the use of tactical nuclear weapons.

Speaking overnight, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, called for discussions instead of waging sanctions and stumbling on Ukraine’s unrealistic demands that pro-Russian troops lay down their arms.

Lavrov said there would be “no military intervention” from Russia into Ukraine.

In just under one hour from now at 6:00 pm Ukraine time, President Poroshenko will meet with parliamentary leaders to discuss the introduction of martial law in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.
